For those who don’t know the controversy gripping Indian media for the past week, here is a quick recap.
Bois Locker Room was a group on Instagram whose chat screenshots were leaked which showed explicit messages made by underage boys towards underage girls of their school. These are boys who took publicly posted pictures of girls from Instagram, posted them on the group and started talking about them in a sexual manner.
There were also sources which claimed that the group members morphed photos of girls into nude images and posted them on the group for entertainment. (no conclusive evidence for the same)
The most notorious of these chats was a screenshot of a person named “Siddharth” asking to gang rape a girl in the chat.
The social media took this chat as evidence of Bois Locker Room’s guilt and started calling all members in the group rapists and defamed them because of this one chat by “Siddharth”.
The Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) sent a notice to Instagram for the locations and information of the group members, they also filed a FIR against the group under section 67A. They specifically mentioned that the group is a place for rape planning and execution based on the chats by “Siddharth”.

The Delhi Police after seeing the row on social media and the lynch mobbing of the chat members decided to take action.
The Delhi Police detained an admin of the “Bois Locker Room” a minor and has produced him in front of the Juvenile Justice Board , 22 other members (all boys) from the group have been identified and put under observation.
The Indian social media lynch mob demanded the prosecution of the minor boys as adults, citing as they can make comments on a girl as adults, they should be tried as adults (feminist logic).
Although, The Police could not identify the real culprit, the person who instigated the gang rape on the chat “Siddharth”, the reason why all these boys have been harassed as rapists. (we will come back to this).
Now that we are caught up with “Bois Locker Room” (BLR), I also wanted to mention 2 other related controversies that happened while BLR was going on.
- Gurugram False rape – Suicide
At the same time as the chats of the “Bois Locker Room” were getting exposed. A MeToo post surfaced on Instagram which named a boy Manav Singh having sexually assaulted the accuser 2 years ago, when they were in school.
Social Media again played judge and jury, and presumed the guilt of the boy in question. He was made out to be a rapist overnight. He received multiple death threats and harassment from the media.
The Indian social media coupled him with the BLR controversy and made him a rapist. Later that night, he impulsively committed suicide from the panic attacks and harassment. I guess the mental stress and anguish got to him.
The Girl who accused Manav retracted her rape accusation and said if he couldn’t handle the pressure it’s not her fault.
The brother of suicide victim had to make a statement over Instagram to stop people from defaming his brother even after his death.

A young boy lost his life because a girl wanted attention, any action is yet to be taken against the false rape accuser in question.
2. Girls Locker Room – GLR
When BLR controversy surfaced, there were also chats of an alleged “Girls Locker Room”.
These chats showed objectifying other women and comments on their appearance, shaming them. A different set of chats also surfaced in which women were objectifying men and calling then gay and faggots because boys didn’t reply to their chats.
They also instigated sexual assault against boys on this group, used explicit language to describe these boys.
But, no action has been taken against these girls under the same law for which the boys have been penalized.
These girls didn’t have their names dragged through the mud like the boys had, but I guess they are girls, right?
No arrests, No FIRs, No Social Media backlash.

Coming back to BLR, turns out after further investigation into the chats from “Siddharth”, the chats which contained rape planning. It was not part of the BLR group, but was a different chat on snapchat between a girl posing as “Siddharth” to test the boy on chat.
Yes, A girl used a fake account to try to catch him planning her own rape and try to get the guy in trouble?
Somehow, when the BLR chats surfaced, this chat between the girl –“Siddharth” and the boy were added to give ammunition against the BLR chats as a whole. This chat between Siddharth is the ammunition Indian pseudo feminists used to make the BLR seem like a bunch to aspiring rapists.
Otherwise, the BLR chats are just as misogynistic as the Girls Locker Room chats are misandrist. True, the BLR uses more vulgar language, but that just the way most young men talk these days. And the GLR chats are just as vulgar if not worse at places as you can see.
But, somehow one 15-year-old boy was detained, 22 identified. Their identities exposed; their lives ruined.
Nothing happened to the girl who faked her own rape planning, nothing happened to the girls from the GLR Chats. The Delhi police said because the girl – “Siddharth” is a juvenile and it was a childish act. This is the same police that arrested a boy over the same chat.
Impersonating a person over the internet is a crime under section 66C of IPC, but I guess when you are a girl you can get away with anything.
If the genders were reversed in this whole conversation and it was a boy who had said such things. He would definitely be in Jail.
Conclusion:
Men/Boys are presumed guilty until proven innocent while at the same time women/girls are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
- Just look at Manav, people got enraged because of a girl’s MeToo post without any evidence. The social media lynch mob became the judge, jury and executioner. They got what they sought out to do, I guess. But, they also ruined a family, their dreams, their future. All because a girl wanted attention. Manav’s family had to file a defamation case against the girl in question because there is no law or section against false rape accusations.
- The BLR is another such example. The Delhi police arrested and slandered young boys without doing proper investigation into the chats in questions first. They ruined a boy’s life and when it turns out the chat was from a girl. “Oh, she is just a juvenile”.
Even, when the girl is proven to be guilty. Nothing is done to get justice for the people who suffered.
Indian Media is ready to crucify young boys for their “girls are pure” image. But, when it turns out girls are in the wrong, everyone is quiet. The media is quick to reveal and defame the boys in question, without a second thought. But the Indian media never publishes the identity of the female culprit till she is proven guilty in court.
Modern feminism stops where true equality starts; they want equal rights but not equal responsibilities.
My heart goes out to Manav and his family. Hope people learn from this and stay safe, you never know which girl around you, would want to claim you raped her.
